Blotter - Blog+Twitter

Random noise
There's alot of blogs out there, random individuals like myself and dedicated sites blogger. Then there's twitter, which I'm still trying to understand. If I want to know what my friends are up to, I look at Facebook not twitter. The problem with twitter and blogger is random noise. If you dipped into my music collection, it's very eclectic and well organised. If you found and loved Donovan, Bell and Sebastian and other folk music in there you would probably hate Extreme Noise Terror which is also in there.
So twitter and blogger just need a bit of organisation.

Blotter
A cross between Twitter and Blogger but with some organisation of information streams. Think wiki-news or wiki-opinion. Anyone on the internet can create an 'blog stream', which can be their own writing or a combination of other peoples writing. Just as I 'follow' people on twitter, I can subscribe to 'blog streams'.

Blog stream
A 'Blog Stream' should be discoverable somehow. There would be a directory, based on location or keywords, the usual. For example, a location based 'blog stream' for Dublin might be about 'shopping bargains'. There might be several people who feed into this, and many more who subscribe. When there's a bargain in a shop on Grafton Street, the information is shared in the group.

Twitter keeps you creative and short with your 140 character twits. A blog stream post would have to be similarly snappy, maybe less than 500 characters?

Meh!
I guess I should just be more organised? There are plenty of forums out there for technologies, political opinion, music making and location based. Just a shame there are so many idiot posters. It would be great if those forum threads were better organised and pruned.
